ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
The Ivorian winger has had to be patient in pursuit of opportunities under Erik ten Hag, with a pre-season injury hindering his progress. Game time has remained limited since returning to fitness, but he did have a role to play in a thrilling quarter-final tie with arch-rivals at Old Trafford.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Amad was introduced off the bench in the 85th minute, two minutes before Antony sent the heavyweight contest to extra-time. United then battled their way back from falling behind again to secure a stunning 4-3 win and book tickets for a semi-final date with Coventry at Wembley.

WHY WAS AMAD SENT OFF?
Amad kept his composure in the 121st minute to drill low into the bottom corner, sparking wild scenes of celebration. Within those, the 21-year-old decided to take off his shirt. He had already been booked in the 116th minute, meaning that a red came his way after collecting another caution.

WHEN WILL AMAD BE SUSPENDED?
Amad admits that he “forgot” about the first yellow, with emotion taking over. He must serve a suspension, in the Premier League against Brentford on March 30, but will be hoping to be involved when Erik ten Hag’s side head to Wembley for a meeting with Championship opponents that could edge them another step closer to major silverware.
